Overview
From the first few seconds the Stranger Things title sequence, I knew what I was watching was going to be special. One episode in and my mind was racing and I made up my mind to do a print.
After brainstorming with my wife and coming up with a number of ideas. We came up with the concept of representing the Upside Down with the Christmas Lights. The problem now was how to do it in an original way without just depicting the house scene. While watching one of the episodes we realized that the headpiece Eleven wears (when she was ***SPOILERS*** traveling to the Upside Down) very closely resembled the Christmas lights from the seen where Will is communicating with his mother. I chose to draw her in a concentrated state to give the appearance she is in contact with something or someone else.
As much as I loved the Stranger Things signature red, as well as the classic font, It was quickly becoming a bit played out with all of the fan art being made. I decided instead to fill in the letters to set it apart and to use a hot pink for the lighter area to get off a retro vibe. I thought this was just close enough to still read as a Stranger Things print but different enough to stand out. I did some research, and found that the creators of the show wanted their logo to look as though it belonged on the cover of a Stephen King novel. For the credit box and remaining text I would do the same by finding a typeface that was reminiscent of what you would find on the back of a Stephen King Novel.
